Profile

Situated atop the Bukidnon plateau along the banks of the mighty Pulangi River, Valencia City is bounded on the north by Malaybalay City and the town of Lantapan, on the east by San Fernando town, on the south by Maramag, and on the west by the towns of Pangantucan and Talakag. It is located at the heart of Mindanao Island: 118 kilometers southeast of Cagayan de Oro, 169 kilometers nothwest of Davao City, and 234 kilometers northeast of Cotabato City. The city covers a total land area of 621 square kilometers. Most of the 31 barangays that comprise the city are considered rural areas with vast expanse of lush forest lands and fertile agricultural areas.

Most of the people speak Cebuano. Others speak Ilonggo or Ilocano. English and Tagalog are widely used in schools, business, and government offices. Roman Catholicism is the dominant religion in the city.

Farming is the main economic activity in the city of Valencia. Rice, corn, banana, root crops, and vegatables are the main farm products. Wholesale and retail are the dominant commercial establishment in the city center. Cottage industries produce wood articles, processed food, and handicrafts.
