Located at the norteastern part of Batangas Province, Tanauan City is bounded on the
north by Calamba City, on the east by Sto. Tomas Town, on the south by Malvar and Balete, and on the
west by Taal Lake and Talisay Town. The city is about 68 kilometers south of Manila and is fast gaining
its share of the overflow of industries from National Capital Region.
In fact, Tanauan is part of the so-called urban beltway from Dagupan City in the north down to the cities
of Lucena and Batangas in the south.
A third class city belonging to the third legislative district of Batangas Province, Tanauan covers a land area of
127 square kilometers. It is the least populated among the the 3 cities of Batangas. Its people are mostly Tagalogs and majority belong
to the Roman Catholic Religion.
The city is partly urban and partly rural. The rural areas are devoted to agriculture where rice, coconut,
rootcrops and vegetables are planted. There are also many poultry and hog farms.
