The town of Rodriguez is formerly called Montalban. It is the northernmost town of Rizal Province and is bounded on the north by the town of Norzagaray in the province of Bulacan, on the east by the town of Gen. Nakar in the province of Quezon, on the south by Antipolo City and the town of San Mateo, and on the west by Quezon City. It is accessible by a road coming from Marikina City via San Mateo. Alternatively, the town can be reached via Payatas (Litex), Quezon City.

Located at the slopes of the Sierra Madre Mountains, Rodriguez has a total land area of 312.7 square kilometers. It is politically subdivided into 11 barangays most of which are urbanized. The town center is situated in a narrow valley traversed by Wawa River, a tributary of the Marikina River.
