Marilao is located on the western part of Bulacan Province. It is bounded on the north by the municipality of Sta. Maria and the city of San Jose Del Monte, on the east and south by the city of Meycauayan, and on the west by Bocaue. The town is accessible via MacArthur Highway and also the North Luzon Expressways. It is also accessible via a secondary road from San Jose Del Monte City.

With a total area of 26 square kilometers, Marilao is as large as Manila City. Although considered part of Metro Manila built-up area, many parts of the town are still rural areas. The town is politically subdivided into 16 barangays and is part of the fourth legislative district of Bulacan.

Manufactured products from Marilao includes garments and textile, paper, processed foods, jewelry, metalcrafts, and woodcrafts. Home-based industries churn out tomato jam, Longganisa (processed meat), fruit juice drink, pickled vegetables, and decorative candles.Its farms produce rice, corn, some root crops and vegetables, livestock and poultry.

Entrpreneurs can invest in mass housing, commercial complexes, and tourist facilities. The production and processing of high value commercial crops is highly recommended.
