The seat of the provincial government, Kalibo is a 1st class municipality located on the central coast
of Aklan Province. It is bounded on the north by the Jintotolo Channel, on the east by New Washington, on the south
by Bangan, and on the west by Numancia.
It has a total land area of 50.7 square kilometers and is politically subdivided into 16 barangays.
Travel to Kalibo is now made easier with the opening of Kalibo International Airport. Travel by sea is through the
Dumaguit Port in New Washington or the Port of Batan. Kalibo is situated 160 kilometers north of Iloilo City and 90 kilometers west of Roxas City.
One of the most popular Visayan Festivals is the Ati-Atihan which is held every year in Kalibo during the month of January.
