Located in the northwestern part of Negros Oriental Province at the foot of
Mount Canlaon, Canlaon City is bounded on the north and west by the province of Negros Occidental,
on the east by the town of Vallehermoso and on the sounth by Guihulngan town. The city is
around 168 kilometers northwest of the capital city of Dumaguete. It has an area of 160.7
square kilometers. With a population of 50.2 thousand in 2007, its population dencity is 312 people per square kilometer. Most of the city's barangays are considered rural which are either
forestlands or devoted to agriculture. Terrain is mostly hilly and mountainous with narrow river valleys and plateaus.
Canlaon City is an ideal place for the production of organic products and herbal plants. Businessmen are also encouraged
to put up tourism facilities especially resorts and demonstration farms. Small scale factories for the production of processed foods, furniture,
and handicraft items are very much welcomed in this city.
