Located in the northwestern part of Laguna Province, Binan is bounded on the north by the municipality of San Pedro, on the east by Laguna Lake, on the south by Santa Rosa City, and on the west by the towns of Carmona and Gen. Mariano Alvarez in the province of Cavite. Coming from Metro Manila, Binan can be reached via the South Luzon expressway or through the old National Road. The city is part of the first congressional district of Laguna and is composed of 24 barangays, all of which are classified as urban.

Binan is the 4th city of Laguna Province. Several large enterprises are located in the town particularly in its two industrial estates, Laguna International Industrial Park and Laguna Technopark. Manufactured products in Binan includes car parts, electronics, and electrical equipment.
