Bangued is a 1st class municipality located on the western part of Abra Province.
It is bounded on the north by the province of Ilocos Norte, on the east by the towns of Danglas, La Paz, Tayum, Bucay, and Penarrubia,
on the south by San Isidro, and on the west by Pidigan and Langiden.
The town is situated 409 kilometers north of Manila and 197 kilometers north of Baguio.
It has a total land area of 105 square kilometers and is politically subdivided into 31 barangays.
