The northernmost town of La Union Province, Bangar is a 3rd class municipality. It is bounded on the north by Ilocos Sur Province, on the east
by the municipality of Sudipen, on the south by Luna, and on the west by South China Sea.
The town has a total land area of 37.3 square kilometers and is politically subdivided into 33 barangays.
