Ballesteros is a 4th class municipality located in the northwestern part of Cagayan Province. It is bounded on the
north by the Babuyan Channel, on the east by Aparri, on the south by Camalaniugan and Allacapan, and on the west by Abulug.
It has a total land area of 120 square kilometers and is politically subdivided into 19 barangays.
The town is situated 117 kilometers north of Tuguegarao City, the provincial capital.
