Arakan is a 2nd class municipality located on the northeastern part of North Cotabato Province. It is bounded on the north by the province of Bukidnon, on the east by the province of Davao Del Sur, on the south by Magpet, and on the west by Antipas and President Roxas. It has a total land area of square kilometers and is politically subdivided into 28 barangays.

Two rivers pass through the town namely: Kulaman and Tinanan Rivers.
